Second Shooter for Kylee Ann Studios

A few weeks ago my sisters second shooter told her she wasn't going to make it to the reception... day of. She let me know she was stressed cuz she's gonna be tired and needed help, the different angles etc. I, the non-photographer, volunteered.

I shot on her camera because it was a full frame... and way better than my beginning level consumer camera. Though my beginning level consumer level camera (Nikon D3200, with a 35mm lens works SO well for my needs and my skill level).

I have never used but by the end of the 2.5 hours, I learned a lot with Kylee and got a lot more comfortable. Though I'm definitely a beginner because the sharpness I thought I was getting was a little less than sharp because I moved a little with the camera as I pressed it. #rookiemistake

When I captured the perfect moment I just got a little bit more of an emotional high. Is this was it feels like to be a wedding photographer and look back at those moments that you preserved forever with careful balance of skill, art and focus? Ahhhh I love it. I took my sisters online intro class a while ago because my goal has been to get Charlie's everyday moments on my nice camera. Preserve those moments forever. It's so fun to whip out the card after a few good shots, throw on my preset & just feel that high. Same high after a good logo creation. Same high after a good homework assignment. Who needs drugs when you get high off being the biggest freakin creative geek?

Who has a dslr camera but doesn't know how to use it? Take the plunge. Mine sat in auto for 3.5 years. Go check out kyleeann.com for her beginner class while it's still there.

Also if you are a photographer, take those opportunities to second shoot. Yeah, it's hard because you aren't getting paid and you aren't even getting much credit. But it's an invaluable experience to practice with one of the best photographer mentors I know. My DT. (jk that's not an acronym... I just wanted to be like all the mom forums out there DH, DD, DS... DT=dear twin).
