Look for Rainbows in the Rain

I saw this quote on Instagram with the rainbow reminder, to look for rainbow in the rain…

“THE JOY WE FEEL HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF OUR

LIVES AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE FOCUS OF OUR LIVES.”

- Russell M. Nelson -

And I knew it’d be perfect for my cute activity day girls

(a group of girls I plan activities for every other week for my church).

I wanted to share because I have one in my office, one in Maelie’s room and these 10-11 year old girls all have one in their room. It’s a beautiful reminder.

Mine is especially amazing because it matches my logo. HAHA.

I also thought it’d be a nice little gift or gestture for a friend or ministering sister.

But it was ALSO super super simple to make.

Supplies:

  • Rope - for Maelie’s I used 1/2” x 25 that made 6+ 4 strand rainbows, for mine it was dollar store twine

  • Yarn - 4 colors

  • Needle & Thread

  • Wire

  • Scissors

Instructions:

  • Put the rope flat down and turn it into the curve you want

  • Cut the rope

  • Repeat by wrapping the next rope just above it on the same curve

  • Cut the rope

  • Repeat the process

  • Wrap the wire around each rope about an inch from the end.

  • Follow the wire along the rope and wrap it around the other end about an inch from the other end

  • Wrap the yarn around the rope

  • Hide the ends underneath the wrapped yarn

  • Lay all the layers in their curve and sew them tightly together (as shown)

“When the focus of our lives is on God’s plan of salvation, and Jesus Christ and His gospel, we can feel joy regardless of what is happening—or not happening—in our lives.

Joy comes from and because of Him.

He is the source of all joy.

We feel it at Christmastime when we sing,

“Joy to the world, the Lord is come.” And we can feel it all year round.

For Latter-day Saints, Jesus Christ is joy!”

Maelie is not feeling the joy in her crib.

But her room is feeling it.
