Trouble with Transitions?
Transitioning to bed, naps, school, home… it might be challenging for your child to transition. It’s a lot of stimulation for them to move from one task to the next and sometimes their bodies just haven’t developed the coping skills.
Here are some ideas,
A visual schedule (we use one in the morning to get dressed and get the day started, and at night to get ready for bed).
First-then schedule, PJ is SOOO good at this one with Charlie. First we are going to change your diaper, then we are going to look at stars. Then he repeats it, diaper then stars. We get to look at starts, but FIRST we need to change your diaper. It makes the diaper process SO much easier. Take it a step further with photos if they are really struggling. Take a picture of them sleeping, and then a picture of them playing… FIRST we are going to sleep… then we will play. They will start to understand the routine and know a good thing comes after their challenging transition.
