2021 Toy Gift Guide
This is going to be a pretty comprehensive gift-guide with some of our favorites. I will start with open-ended toys which meet MULTIPLE areas of development if you are shopping with development in mind. I’ll try to highlight some of those areas in italics!
Lovevery Play Kits
Lauren’s Pick for Easiest Option
Cognitive, Fine-Motor, Speech/Language
Shop play kits. Pick the age your child is by month and you have a whole shelf full of high-quality open-ended toys for that developmental stage.
Building Materials
Lauren's pick for "Through All the Ages"
Cognitive, Fine-Motor, Speech/Language, Social/Emotional
Building materials should be in every playroom. When we rotate toys, we always leave at least one building toy material out. Building materials include magnatiles, wood blocks (buy online or DIY), foam blocks, legos, duplos, lincoln logs and more.
Specific Building Materials
Lauren's pick for "Something Different"
Cognitive, Fine-Motor, Speech/Language, Social/Emotional
If your child has a hard time using their imagination to create anything and everything out of building materials. These toys are a great place to go to still have HOURS of entertainment.
Examples include: Marble towers, railroad tracks, car tracks
Pretend Play
Lauren's pick for "Most Creative"
Cognitive, Fine-Motor, Speech/Language, Social/Emotional, Gross Motor
Pretend play is so important. It can be found in doll play and houses, dress-up, grocery store sets, or play kitchens. Some of our favorites pretend play finds are bought secondhand from the Goodwill or the classifieds page.
