Best Things to do Outside with Kids in Cache Valley, Utah

The other day someone asked me my favorite thing to do with kids outside in the Summertime. Man, my list started going and going and going. And I realized I learned these things over the years, but if I was new here… there would be SO much that I wouldn’t even know to discover in Cache Valley. So consider this an amazing starter list of things to do in Cache Valley, UT with kids.

I read this post on Instagram by Brooke Romney.

"There is a lot being said about bucket lists and summer.
Some praise them for their magic
While others feel their forced fun stifles it.

A few years ago I went "all in" on summer.
We had a huge bucket list with all kinds of exciting things.
We made lots of memories...some amazing and others a bust.
It was exhausting.

The next year I decided that I was going to throw that whole bucket list idea away.
We were just going to take things easy, slowly, and enjoy the simple.
And this might not be a popular opinion, but I didn't love it."

My kids were getting older and didn't need me all that much. They were no longer young enough to find bugs or make a lemonade stand or play all day in the sprinklers.
So instead of carefree and spontaneous, I did a lot of driving them around and electronic monitoring.
At the end of the summer, it felt like I had missed out on all the good stuff.

The summer just sort of slipped away.

That year, I realized I didn't do the bucket list for THEM...certainly they would forget just about all of it, But I did it for me, to keep me engaged in motherhood and have an excuse to experience things together.

I know not everyone feels this way, and that is okay...in fact, for much of my life I have wished I was different...more content, relaxed, in the moment, But I’m embracing me. And for me, summer needs a little planning, a little structure, and yes, a little fabricated fun.

When I invest in something, I always get more out of it, and that has been true of motherhood for me. It's not going to be perfect. I work, my oldest will be away at college, my two middles have sports and jobs, and my youngest loves his friends,

So participation might be a little different or sparse or unpredictable and that is okay,

Our bucket list may be short and inconsistent, and I know it won't be fully accomplished,

But it's a guide, a blueprint, a way to make sure we get a few moments together.

Something for us all to look forward to. Actually, maybe just something for me to look forward to 😉 Life is moving fast and I’m not okay with our time slipping away.

So, bucket list summer, here we come.

After I read this post I decided we for sure needed a summer bucket list.

So I’m here to share. Download below.
